Ornate Box Turtles are a terrestrial species of Turtle native to the Great Plains of the United States. It is one of the two different subspecies of Terrapene Ornata. This Turtle is also the state reptile of Kansas. This species of turtle will grow to be about 5-7 inches in length. Ornate Box Turtles are Omnivores, they are also grazers. In captivity it is important to provide variety in their diets.They can eat Roaches, Crickets, Earthworms, Mealworms, Silkworms, Veggies etc. It is also important to provide a calcium supplement and a UVA/UVB bulb for your turtle to promote good bone and shell health. Box Turtles are a hardy species of terrestrial Turtle with great personalities, making them a great choice for first time Turtle owners.
